Means of Transportation
The central location of Irosin in the Sorsogon province made the town a catchment area and a host to several public and private institutions catering to a number of barangays of at least 5 adjoining towns of the province. The town also is a convergence area of economic activities of the towns of Bulan, Bulusan, Juban, Matnog and Sta Magdalena.
The mode of transportation in the inter-barangay mobility of people and products are mainly tricycles, jeepneys and trucks except for Cawayan a barangay situated in the highland with no road serviceable to motorized vehicles. A road network system connects almost all the barangays to the Maharlika Highway and other national roads traversing the town.

Population
Irosin has a total population of 49,968 based on the 2007 Population Census, 12,328 are in the urban and 33,179 are in the rural areas. The annual growth rate from 2000 to 2007 was 1.40% lower than the 1995 to 2000 figure at 2.20%. Irosin urban population is 13,190 or 26.40% of the total population in 2007. The rural population is 36,778 more than twice the urban population and 73.60% of the total population. The barangays of San Juan and Buenavista posted a negative growth rate. Bacolod is the most populated urban barangay with a total population of 4,082. Of the eleven barangays with a total population of more than 2,000, eight are rural barangays. These barangays are catchments areas very proximate to the agricultural production sites in the municipality. The population density of Irosin is 314.7 persons per square kilometers.

LAND AREA AND LOCATION
Land Area
Irosin has a land area of 15,880 hectares or 158.80 square kilometers, 14,831 hectares or 93% of which is classified as alienable and disposable lands and the remaining 1,049 hectares or 7% are classified as forests. This forested areas is within a declared protected area the Bulusan Volcano Natural Park (BVNP).
Location
Irosin lies at the foot of Bulusan Volcano, the tail end of the Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges at the southern tip of Luzon. It is located at 12 degrees 42 minutes and 24 seconds longitude and 124 degrees and 2 minutes latitude right at the center of Sorsogon province. The town rests in a caldera; the valley floor is approximately 4,105.321 hectares. The Bulusan Volcano and several other mountains almost surround the wide valley floor where making the town the only landlocked municipality of the province.
