The Local Government targets low, if not zero maternal mortality and morbidity rates. To achieve this, the Municipal Health Office implements a comprehensive maternal care program for pregnant and lactating women.
Clients are advised to submit themselves to monthly pre-natal check up. They should submit themselves to post partum care at least two to three times within four to six weeks upon delivery.
The Municipal Health Office provides immunization to infants 0 to 11 month old. Anti – tetanus vaccine is also available to pregnant women to prevent occurrence of tetanus neonatorum in infants. The immunization is administered in the barangay health officer.

Among the mandate of the Municipal Health Officer is to diagnose and treat and give appropriate medical services to any individual who needs medical assistance. The Municipal Health Officer has three district health offices that provide the service.

Social welfare and development concerns are directed towards improving the quality of life of the poor and disadvantage sectors in the locality. Several programs ranging from nutrition, health care, shelter, livelihood and employment assistance and initiatives for the welfare and protection of children, women, elderly, disabled and other disadvantage sectors of society and relief and rehabilitation during disasters are done by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and three local NGOs. There are 40 Day Care Centers in the municipality operated and maintained by the barangays Day Care Workers in all 28 barangays.
